The BiteThe Nebraska Department Health and Human Services, Public Health Division has developed these Web pages to track and combat the spread of West Nile virus (WNV). There are currently no reports of West Nile virus in Nebraska for the 2009 survellience year.

The annual totals for 2008 included47 clinical cases in 29 counties. There was 1 death in 2008.
Surveillance Efforts
DHHS surveillance efforts include trapping mosquitoes, collecting dead birds and monitoring and monitoring both live birds. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture investigates any possible cases involving horses. All human cases are investigated by the DHHS.Citizen Involvement
