Substance Abuse Service System

The Division is the principle agency for substance abuse. Local planning for services is conducted by the regions. The division gives money to the six Behavioral Health Regions based on that region’s needs. Regions buy services from local agencies. Regions inspect agencies to make sure people receiving services get the best service possible.

A State Advisory Committee gives advice to the division on service needs within the state.
