Current Initiatives
Medical Assistance Advisory Committee
The Department is required by federal law to meet certain provisions in
the administration of the Medical Assistance Program-Medicaid. One of those requirements
is for the Medical Assistance Advisory Committee. As the title indicates, the committee
advises the Medicaid Director in the development of health and medical care services
policies. The regulation describing the committee may be found at 471 NAC 1-004.01.
The committee meets once per calendar quarter to review previous meeting minutes, receive
member input on their issues, to update members on the Department’s progress on
initiatives such as the MMIS project, and to review and work on regulations in all stages
of development. Members of the committee also volunteer to work with and advise the
Department, as part of smaller work groups, on specific initiatives that benefit clients
and providers. Members are appointed by the Medicaid Director.
