Kids Connection

Children's Health Plan -- Phase II

Nebraska’s plan for Phases I and II of the Children’s Health Insurance Program – Kids Connection – have been submitted to the federal government for review and approval.

The federal review process is coordinated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Phase I of Kids Connection provides coverage for youths age 15 through 18 up to 100% of the federal poverty level through Medicaid. The State requested a May 1, 1998, effective date.

This Phase II of Kids Connection provides coverage for children through age 18 up to 185% of federal poverty level, as authorized under LB 1063, signed into law by Governor Nelson on April 13, 1998. It is scheduled for September 1, 1998 implementation.
