Claim Status

You can check Medicaid claim status four ways:

1. Review your “Medicaid Claims In Process Over 30 Days” report. For an example and explanation of this report, see 471-000-128 (for CMS1500, dental, nursing facility turnaround and electronic 837 Practitioner and Dental claims) and 471-000-129 (for CMS1450 and electronic 837 Institutional claims).

2. Work with your electronic data interchange (EDI) clearinghouse to set up electronic Health Care Claim Status Requests (ASC X12N 276/277). For more information, go to Electronic Data Interchange.

3. Access claim status through the internet. For enrollment forms, go to Internet Access for Providers.

4. Call the Medicaid Inquiry at 877-255-3092 or 402-471-9128. Provide the Medicaid claim number (if you have it) or your 11-digit Medicaid provider number, the client’s 11-digit Medicaid ID number and the claim date of service.
