Child and Family Service Review

Program Improvement Plan

The on-site review was conducted in July 2002 and the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children & Families (ACF) issued their findings that   Nebraska was not in substantial conformity.  This required development of the program improvement plan (PIP) addressing those areas that were not in substantial conformity.  The program improvement plan covers the two year time period of August 2003 to August 2005.

The ACF Regional Office in Kansas City monitored the State's progress in completing the provisions of the PIP through status reports on the PIP that the State must submit quarterly.  The quarterly report included:

  1. a description of progess made during the reporting period, and
  2. data about measurable factors and their relationship to the established goals.

An annual evaluation was be done jointly by the ACF Region Office and the State.

Along with its many stakeholders, Nebraska accepted to the opportunity to critically review its programs in the area of Protection and Safety in order to improve the system and the lives of the children and families that it serves. The following summary was submitted to and accepted by our federal partners.
