Classification and Pay
Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
Has over four hundred classification titles.
Jobs are assigned to a classification and salary grade established by the Department of Administrative Services, State Personnel Division. Pay is based on comparisons with jobs of similar duties and/or market conditions.
Classification Review
An employee's classification may be reviewed at any time by DHHS management.
Employees may request an audit of their job duties, if they believe they are classified incorrectly.
Employees should contact their supervisor and their Human Resources and Devleopment representative if they want a classification review.
Classification Process
Employees or management may request a reclassification review by completing a DHHS Position Description Form.
If the employee is covered by the NAPE/AFSCME Labor Contract please refer to Article 19: Classification Appeals for specific directions.
If the employee is covered by the Classified System Personnel Rules & Regulations please refer to Chapter 6: Classification.

Every position title has a class specification which describes the job duties.
