Coordinator Section

ARF Movement LogoWelcome to the coordinator section of the ARF website!  Here you will find out exactly what you need to do to implement ARF in your area or at your site.

WHO IS A COORDINATOR?

A coordinator is an individual who would like to implement ARF.  This person can be a teacher, school nurse, youth organization leader, recreational director, health department staff member, Extension Educator, faith group mentor, parent, grand-parent, community volunteer, etc.  Older youth (high school and college-age) are also encouraged to be coordinators!  There are two types of coordinators:  Area and Site.

Area Coordinators
These individuals serve as community or regional experts on the ARF Movement and Kids in Motion and encourage groups and individuals to participate.  They help recruit participants, advise Site Coordinators, provide support and/or training, and serve as liaisons between ARF Headquarters and Site Coordinators.  County health department staff members often fall into this role but it can be ANYONE who is a champion for youth physical activity in the community.   If you would like more information on becoming an Area Coordinator, please contact arf@dhhs.ne.gov

Site Coordinators
A Site Coordinator is a person who comes in direct contact with youth on a regular basis.  They are the individuals on the “front lines” who plan and make physical activity opportunities happen at specific sites.  Site Coordinators handle registration, activity tracking, incentives, and the day-to-day details of the program.

Parent/Youth Contract & Family Challenge:
Is intended to get family involvement in promoting physical activity for youth.  We realize that the participants will likely not be able to get all of the needed physical activity at school or during a specific program.

Tracking Poster:
Coordinators receive this in the ARF start-up kit.  It is intended to be an easy way of tracking physical activity of both large and small groups.  Merely check the box if the child acquired 60+ minutes of activity on each Friday.  On the last Friday of each month (or as soon as possible) report activity electronically to receive a new incentive!

Incentives and Recognition:
ARF participants have reported that receiving extra time for movement is ALREADY like receiving a prize, but who doesn't like fun stuff too?

Incentives will be mailed to each coordinator with instructions for distribution.  All ARF participants will receive a kick-off incentive.  Periodic incentives will be given to youth who meet the monthly activity goal.

Example incentives from past ARF Movements:  tattoos, pencils, hacky sack balls, water bottles, silicone bracelets, ribbons, frisbees.

Activity Calendar:
A great way for kids and adults to get ideas for physical activity.  These will be sent out via e-mail each month to Coordinators.  The Activity Calendar Template is included if you would like to create your very own personalized calendar.
