All Recreate on Fridays (ARF) Movement
About
ARF Movement Logo

The ARF Movement was founded in the fall of 2004 by Nebraska Health and Human Services and serves exclusively Nebraska residents. The program was established to fight declining physical activity levels and the rising obesity epidemic of Nebraska youth.

By joining the ARF Movement you will be one of over 100 schools, faith based and youth organizations, families, childcare facilities, and before & after school programs.  We commend you for striving to help youth in your community become healthier, happier, and more physically active.

HOW ARF WORKS:

ARF encourages youth, families, schools, and communities to work together utilizing any program or type of activity that works best in their individual setting to accumulate 60 minutes of activity time. Youth may record all activity accumulated throughout the day. For example, Sally's Friday Schedule: walk to school (10 minutes), play soccer at recess (20 minutes), "active" time during PE (15 minutes), walk home from school (10 minutes), shoot hoops with family before dinner (30 minutes) = 85 minutes!

Schools implementing ARF are encouraged to provide 20-30 minutes of physical activity on Fridays through PE, recess, lunch, and activities incorporated into curriculum (for example, brain breaks or learning with movement). Activity time accumulated outside of school may include walking/bicycling to school; organized sports; play-time; or activities done with family and friends or through youth and recreation programs/organizations.

What can YOU do with 60 minutes a day?

The ARF Movement was designed with YOU in mind! ARF is a one-stop-shop for the latest information on educational tools, research, and programming for youth physical activity and nutrition.
