State Trauma Advisory Board

The State Trauma Advisory Board is a 18-member board appointed by the Director of Health and Human Services, Regulation and Licensure. Members include:
  • the State Trauma Medical Director (chair),
  • four Regional Medical Directors,
  • a hospital administrator,
  • a rural EMT,
  • a trauma nurse,
  • a paramedic,
  • a rehabilitation professional,
  • an EMS instructor,
  • a pediatric professional,
  • a burn center professional,
  • a consumer,
  • an ER dispatcher,
  • a law enforcement professional, 
  • a mid-level practitioner, and
  • an elected official.

A member of the Nebraska Trauma Systems Development Board is an ex officio member of the board.

The State Trauma Advisory Board shall advise the department regarding trauma care needs throughout the state, advise the Board of Emergency Medical Services regarding trauma care to be provided throughout the state by out-of-hospital and emergency medical services, review the regional trauma plans and recommend changes to the department before the department adopts the plans, review proposed departmental rules and regulations for trauma care, recommend modifications in rules regarding trauma care, and draft a two-year statewide prevention plan that each trauma care region shall implement.
