Education and TrainingQuestions about EMS training and education may be answered by contacting garry.steele@dhhs.ne.gov. In the ever-changing world of medicine, the out-of-hospital provider has the challenge of "keeping up" with pre-hospital medical advancements. From the First Responder to the Paramedic, continued Education and Training must be planned and executed in a timely manner. Information on EMS Education and Training may be found at:
The EMS Program has a highly organized system of Education and Training. Educational programs are available through large multi day EMS conferences and one day local conferences. Each Ambulance and First Responder Service has the ability to receive various continuing education classes right in their service. Financial assistance for these educational programs may be requested on the EMS Continuing Education Grant Form. For information about the Grant Form contact: garry.steele@dhhs.ne.gov.
The Unicameral, Nebraska's Legislative body, has provided funds for both initial and Continuing EMS Education. In order for Services or Conferences to receive Continuing Education funds, a simple grant request form is submitted to the EMS Program. A complete listing of Continuing Education Training may be found at the EMS Continuing Education Training Calendar.
In order for a person to be reimbursed for some of their initial education, they must become certified as an out-of-hospital responder, be a member of an emergency medical service and request reimbursement via the training agency through which they took their training. All initial EMS training is arranged through licensed EMS Training Agencies. A list of EMS Training Agencies may be found at the
EMS Training Agencies List.
