A service to help aged and adults with disabilities or medical conditions with the tasks
needed to help them live independently at home
Who needs Chore Service?
- Those who require assistance with cleaning, shopping, preparing meals, or doing laundry
in order to stay in their own home, such as:
- Older adults
- Adults with disabilities or other medical conditions
- Those who need help with things like personal care, bill paying, simple home repairs,
and supervision
Do I qualify for Chore Service?
You may qualify if you are:
- Low income
- Medicaid eligible
- Need help to continue living at home
You must first qualify for a DHHS program that has the Chore Service, and a worker must
determine that you need this service.

How do I find out if I can receive chore?
- If youre an adult with disabilities, contact your local:
DHHS office, Center for Independent Living, or League of Human Dignity
- If youre aged 65 and above, contact your local Area Agency
on Aging or DHHS office
What kind of tasks can my chore provider do?
Tasks that may be provided depend on your need and the program for which you are eligible.
The tasks are those which you normally could do but are now unable due to your disability
or medical condition. Some examples of tasks include help with:
- Cleaning
- Shopping
- Preparing meals
- Laundry
Can I choose my own chore provider?
Yes, but your provider cannot be a person who is legally responsible for you, such as a
spouse.
